The reinforced tailgate gas spring kit for Discovery 3 and 4 is from the same brand present as standard (Stabilus Lift-o-mat), but with 700N of force versus 480N of the original gas springs. It’s recommended for anyone who has added extra weight to their tailgate by installing, for example, the ladder ladder or tactical tailgate panel.
